TIPS FOR SPRING/SUMMER

☀️

Orphaned Joey Koala rescued and released in 2017

KOALAS

In the heat of summer, koalas will often be found at the base of trees. Always have water out for heat exhausted animals but remember a deep bucket of water will cause birds to drown.

DISPLACED KANGAROOS:

As a result of the lack of rainfall during the earlier part of the year, there was not enough suitable grasses to sustain the kangaroos in the bush.

This results in displaced roos coming into town seeking food/water.

⚠️ Do not approach a kangaroo, as they are extremely susceptible to stress causing them to react aggressively.

JOEYS: Joeys can survive in a deceased mothers pouch for up to 6 days. If you see a kangaroo with a cross paint mark, it means we have already checked the pouch for joeys.

GROOT! Still in our care and weighing 5kilo's😊

⚠️ REMINDER: If you come across a joey in a deceased mum's pouch, please contact your closest shelter and do not attempt to remove joey from the teat as their mouth may be still fused. Incorrect removal can cause issues with their jaws.
